They either sound too much like the original recording to make it worthwhile, or they simply don’t have the same energy that made the original so powerful to begin with. It’s a tricky balance to find. But Genuine has honed in on that balance with focus and purpose. Having listened to a lot of Aaron’s previous work (in particular, his Hellvetika project; a MASSIVE collection of COVID lockdown sludge/doom covers), it’s clear that he not only has a knack for pinpointing what makes the source material special, but also knows how to harness his musical chops to create new meaningful remakes of these classics. "Admittedly, I don't listen to a lot of recently released hardcore and naming five new bands from the last decade would be difficult. When I do listen, it's usually music from 20-30 years ago, which is crazy to think that my favorite songs are 'classics' now. These songs are ageless though and are still bangers. Aaron gives them a fresh and fun coating which had me listening on repeat. He is able to capture the original feeling of the song but offers something new to keep it intriguing. It also reminded me I need to get a new Chain Of Strength shirt!"

“'The Artifacts' by Genuine is Aaron's 5th release packed with unique cover versions, this time with 18 Hardcore gems and hones in more on 1980’s era hardcore from the Bad Brains to Youth Of Today and many more in between. Covering another artists music is not as easy as it may seem, it takes a lot of finesse to take someone else’s song and make it your own. Unlike a plethora of other bands that cover other band’s songs as if it’s an exact replica, with no real creativity put into it, Genuine take the original song, drop down the tuning and tear through them with pounding drums, heavily distorted guitars and some great grind core vocals to truly make a unique cover version. Genuine definitely have a formula and that formula works just perfectly. If you ever wanted to hear 'Youth Crew' or NYC Hardcore songs reinvented faster and heavier, then this release is for you. I am truly looking forward to many more great cover versions by Genuine in the future."

"Noisiest record I’ve heard in a long time. Love the guitar harmonies on Sick People and could never imagine hearing Breakdown play melodic parts. LOL. Judge's 'The Storm' explodes... such a great song, I never really appreciated it much. I’m much more into the fast songs, but this version exploits the heaviness."
