Why would my business be yours? Fuck! I’ve never looked into what you think should go in your gut. Why does it matter to you, I live with a completely sober view? It almost killed me! It would have killed me! So I pushed it away, so I could live more free. Let me back up here, there’s some back story. In order to be clear, it gets a bit gory. I had a childhood, living with sadness. I cut up my wrists while pills brought on madness. The pills brought madness. Some of us are all or nothing. Some of us need conviction to cling to. Some of us are all or nothing. Some of us need conviction to cling to. Oh, here we go… the part that stings: where you tell me things about how “you can manage”, ya can “deal with your feelings”. Bullshit! I call bullshit! ‘Cause I had a shotgun in my mouth and things were going South… fast! As a youth, as a child, I needed a plan. And, it wasn’t just gonna’ appear in my hand. So please understand, I saw my own life’s end, right around the bend. Straight Edge I shall defend! (Some of us are all or nothing)
2.
Left all of the thugs behind for a better peace of mind. A calm in the storm, I could not find. From my street gang days, I have resigned. Better is my life, without all the fights. Still greater has been some sleep in the nights. Defending honor is one thing for sure. Certainly violence is immature. But that, sadly, is how we all start. The tightness of friends, that should not end. But, gang ethics be damned, and not worth it to defend. Are they worth it in the end? Defending the friend. Defending the friend. Are they worth it in the end? Are they worth it in the end? Would your conscience be clear, could you really stand behind a peer? One that makes a terrible choice and back them up with your own fucking voice? I’d rather stand alone. I’d rather stand alone. I’d rather stand alone. So alone. And, if your vision is the same as mine? Well, you say our values align? And we’re on the same side of the line? Hey! May our voices grow louder with time, and collective vision never decline. Then it’s all worth it in the end. Then it’s all worth it to be friends. It’s not a wolf pack, just to have your back? It’s not a wolf pack, just to have your back. It’s not a wolf pack, ‘cause you’ve got my back. It’s not a wolf pack, just because we have each other’s backs. (We don't need gangs, we need each other)

S.P.H. 06:02
Keep it to yourself, we can’t relate to your hate. As you bait us on this date to create a great war: a race war. There is not a time when we’d just sit by. Your ideals, (with) the weakest of appeals, only answered with the strength of our front line. If your “time is now”, then we’ll show you how. You’ll get smashed from the glass of your hate party’s crash, as we overturn (your) cars marked… marked with “Serve. Protect. Harass.” Marked with “Serve. Protect, and Harass.” Oh noooooo… but, you “have feelings” too? No ya don’t! Although, I bet you think you fucking do. Oh noooooo… you “have feelings” too? No ya don’t! Although I think you think you do. Do you “feel” the hate you create? Do you “feel” the strife (you) delegate? Do you “feel” the weight you activate? (Now) “feel” our knife as we demonstrate, demonstrate: how to cut open a pig. “Feel” our knife as we demonstrate: how to cut open a pig. Oh no, you’re in the middle of the road! Oh no, you’re bleeding out! Oh no, right under our peace signs… you’re bleeding out, bleed out! Your sight is going black, all because of our attack, (with) only yourself to blame. City weeps in shame, shame… Your city weeps in shame. But, you are to blame. Should have kept to yourself. Now die by yourself. Should have kept it to yourself. Now die by yourself. Die. Die. Die by yourself! Die by yourself! Die by yourself! Die by yourself! (Some members of the police force and military are forcing us to react)
4.
In every year of which we live, we choose to take or we can give. Tipping the scale with too much weight, lighter in love, heavy with hate. There’s some time to change our fate. Change our fate. Come on, come on, come on, let’s go! I’m just as guilty, and I’m just as vain. I am no different, we are just the same. But, similarity is a driving force to make the change we need to steer a better fucking course. So… work with me brothers, and I’ll work with my sisters. If gloves are used to build ground floors, these hands need not fight wars. Change our fate, let’s change our fate. Change our fate, it’s not too late. I’ll build you up. You’ll build us up. You’ll build me up. We’ll build you up. I’m counting on you. We’ll build you up. I can’t do it alone. Our elders tell us to be patient… I won’t wait, I won’t wait. They tell us to sit quiet… I won’t hold back. Will we do what we’re told, or change our fate? Will we make the same mistakes, or change our fate? Let’s change our fate. Come on, let’s change our fate. There’s still time. There’s still time. There’s still time to change our fate. Change our fate. There’s still time, time. Change our fate. We still have time. Change our fate. Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on… it’s not too late! (We still have time, but not much, let's work together)
5.
Respect… is that so hard for you? Keep yourself in check and curb that disregard. Respect… is that so hard for you? Keep yourself in check. Keep yourself in check, curb your disregard. Oh you and your fucking lack of respect for woman (who are) breathing the same air, working the same shift. All the while, very aware of space you create while you drift. Alone, farther alone. Separate yourself. Don’t you know, don’t you know? You are by yourself, without help, when you needed them most. Once you’ve pushed them away, after distrust in those torch bearers, lighting your way… you are lost, so lost. We were willing to give you a chance. But, you closed your eyes, clenched your fists, made sturdy your stance. We were willing to give you a chance. But, you closed your eyes, clenched your fists, made sturdy your stance. You lost your chance with us, and only when feeling alone—only when starting to cry and fucking moan—only when feeling ashamed with tail between your legs, you exclaim, “But, I didn’t know!”. And we told you so. “But, my friends shared my views!”, that’s why we’re sick of you. “But, now I’m treading water!”, you say. “Now, I’m treading water… I can’t swim!”. Oh, that’s why we’ll watch you sink like a stone. We’ll watch you sink all alone. We’ll watch you sink like a stone. We’ll watch you sink all alone. You had your chance. Now you’ll sink. (Women can help, guide, and support men... if given the respect deserved)

Less 04:00
How about we use less less! Less! Less, and do our best. How ‘bout we use less. The planet has had enough stress. We humans, (with) our need to possess—more than we need—to impress others around us. I am to blame, we are the same. And, I can’t proclaim that I have no shame. Diminish this flame, should be the aim. We know that less is more in this high stake game, (this) game!. Is there really a winning, if the earth stops spinning? Is there really a winning, if the earth stops spinning? Oh, I’m getting dizzy just thinking about it. So much waste, we can agree that it’s a problem (that) we never thought we’d face. But, are we doomed? By the things we thought we’ve needed then and never did consume? I ask again, are we doomed? And somehow—even now—let’s all vow to not allow ourselves to give up. We’re not yet doomed, not yet doomed. So let’s use less, let’s use less. The planet has had enough stress. We humans, (with) our need to possess—more than we need—to impress others around us. Let’s use less. Or your children, your family, your friends—all you hold dear to you—they will need to clean up our mess. Do we trust them to do their best? Oh, it may be too late, it might be too late, it may be too late, it’s getting late. Every hand helps, every step counts, as this unbelievable pressure… it mounts. (The earth is on fire, how shall we react?)
7.
With every day comes a new display of my coping strategy… or the effort any way. I try hard to be a friend, from the first day ‘till the end. And, as the years go on, and on, towards my last, my patience wears thin on me… fuckin’ fast, so fast! Bring my last breath, I can’t do this anymore. No more! You and me can no longer be the original forged loyalty. It’s time we face reality. You’re making this harder than it has to be. Face reality. Let it be, you and me, face reality. The “you and me” died ages ago. Ya gotta’ agree, you gotta’ know. As we grew up, we grew apart. As we grew up, the colder our hearts became. Oh, as we grew up, the feelings were not the same. Now turn away, forget my name. Now turn away, forget my name (and) I’ll do the same, I’ll do the same, I’ll do the same, oh, I’ll do the same, same, same, same. Oh, old friend it’s time. Old friend, we face it head on. You’re making this harder than it has to be. (Some friendships change enough to just let go)
8.
And so I've heard, "the taste outweighs the crime". Yeah right... You've shouted time and time, "their damn lives are mine!". Now sew your fucking bloody lips, take some real hard time to learn how you keep crossing the same deadly line. Ya gain no strength from taking their place. No matter how much you consume, the weaker the diatribe that falls from your face. But still, that sad path of suffering, you resume. That sad path of suffering, you resume to consume... leading to doom, their doom. Gain no strength from their place. Weaker with a bloody face. Gain no strength from their place. Weaker with a bloody face. (Animals are not ours to eat, test on, or wear)

Wake 02:54
How have you not been shot? How is it fucking possible that you still draw breath? Pull the trigger… just one shot. If I had just one single wish to make—just one—I’d wish for you to suffer as much as we have done at your hands. But you seem untouchable, it seems. Why are the worst always safe from the karma of their wake, the karma from their wake? (The worst in life seem to escape their karma)
10.
It isn’t rules… more like a peaceful way to exist. Not for the weak, the proud, or the fool. So, catch up on what you’ve missed. None of us, no one, has sight beyond the grave. So, perhaps the only ones to trust might be those who make less waves. So let’s: 1.) Use none. 2.) Abuse none. 3.) Waste none. 4.) Kill none. Spill no blood, spill no blood, spill no blood, spill no blood. Spill no blood. We may not see Krishna, but—together—we see culture. We may not see Krishna, but together, we see culture. We may not see Krishna, but together we can see Krishna culture around us. Where are you? I can’t see you! (It's less about believing in an all powerful god in the clouds, it's more about the culture of believing in personal practice and personal presence)

REVIEWS:
"'Even If Alone' doesn’t have the same frantic velocity that The 'Artifacts' Genuine covers has, but the power and intensity holds your focus as you travel through the record. The melodies are tight enough to have you humming along before you even make it through your first listen, but the tempo changes and syncopation of a seasoned hardcore vet are what makes this an interesting listen. What I initially took to be a breakdown in the opening seconds of 'Change Our Fate', turned out to be the hook throughout. Very fucking cool."
— Nate Duke

“For GENUINE, this record is a tremendous progression beyond anything that preceded it. It is the result of a creative explosion by Aaron Edge, the solo musician behind the project. Aaron is like a straight edge hardcore kid and a sludge/doom metal person and a spiritually conscious explorer were all put into a blender. But then, instead of being chopped up with various fruits and alternative milks and turned into a smoothie, they instead became one super-talented musical and lyrical synthesis. Aaron is so talented that it’s actually weird. I think it means that someone somewhere has no talent, because Aaron absorbed enough for two people. This record is a work of art. A real gem, this is diverse music and a wide array of ideas combined and the result is more than the sum of its parts. Finally, something unique, interesting, AND heavy. Uniqueness is almost becoming the norm, as bands change their styles TO be weird and intentionally so, and as a result sell tons of records to people who wouldn’t know creative from simply strange. That then makes more bands TRY to be different, and what we end up with is a mess to be honest. Genuine is what the name describes: genuine in its approach to be expressive rather than just musically and sonically different. Genuine is the result of someone expressing both compassion and rage with sincerity. Oddly enough, to be interesting is rarer than being unique, and this is a record that you will listen to again and again without getting jaded. This is a ten song blast of originality which captures your ears from the first few seconds and doesn’t let go until the very end. The variance of heavy styles and riffs throughout the record musically from beginning to end is incredible. Without adhering to a specific genre, Genuine manages to traverse many without getting chaotic. It is constant motion and movement in musical form. The lyrics too have a life of their own. They are introspective and philosophical, socially aware and topical. Ideas covered throughout the record include animal rights; political reactions against authoritarian law enforcement; holding a gang mindset vs just supporting one another without the bravado and potential for violence that often comes with cohesion; respect for women and what results culturally when that doesn’t happen; lost friendships and coping with those who make it impossible to continue onward; consumerism and the effect of it on the planet; the why behind straightedge choices and its unique relationship in the case of the vocalist to suicidal ideation and upbringing; and our relationship spiritually to the world around us and our presence within it. I could go on. If you don’t relate to SOMETHING on this record, if you’re not moved or inspired by the music or the ideas, then the problem is you, not the songs. The words flow. This isn’t a simple comment about what they sound like, but rather about how they are written. The lyrics are less poetic and slightly more literal, without being a speech or sermon. They come across almost conversational in their layout and structure, which makes them both accessible and easy to understand and possible to relate to. This lyrical approach comes amidst vocals which range from drawn out guttural brutal screams to those offering a more tortured expression of rage. Fans of bands like Deadguy, Today is the Day, Amenra, and 108 should most definitely take note, not just of the vocal approach but of the music as well. Especially fans of 108. Standout tracks include all of them. (Though 'S.P.H.' is a crushing saga of a song and needs to be heard for its ideas on police brutality as well as its musically creative interweaving). Just start at the beginning and let this record work its way through you. You’ll end up with aesthetic sensibilities inspired and your mind thinking. Genuine, musically and lyrically, invites and demands that you feel and see the world differently as a result of experiencing the songs and ideas on this record. And that’s exactly what art is supposed to do."
— Greg Bennick

“So heavy that I am looking for something to break—other than my neck—with all this headbanging. Mr. Edge never seems to do the same thing twice which may impress me more than anything else about his prolificity (if that’s a word). The bass is so dirty, I am jealous and find myself wanting to bite the sound personally... I see a lone figure on a mountain with a broadsword wading into battle downhill and it's not going well for the opposition... lots of screaming in their faces... admonishing their sins. This is straight out of a very dark movie for me but Aaron has always stimulated my mind with visuals. Does Aaron have any control over what is coming out of the musical pores? Are there thousands of other beautiful songs they just don’t feel up to sharing? I will stay tuned until I die. See you in the pit.”
